When he's not climbing mountains, Joey works as a volunteer at American Red Cross in the Disaster Services department of the Northern California Coastal Region chapter. The mission of Disaster Services is to provide aid to those who suffer from natural disasters. Such natural disasters can result in catastrophic damage and lead to post-disaster homelessness, and include: hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, mudslides, fallen trees, lightning strikes, and most commonly and perhaps most destructive of all, fires.
His duties at Red Cross consist of on-site disaster response, disaster responder dispatch, logistics, fire prevention and mitigation in collaboration with local fire departments, shelter work, and post-disaster recovery.
On February 17, 2025, Joey created a fundraiser page for a marathon that he will be running with the purpose of raising funds to support disaster relief. Should you wish to contribute to the campaign and aid the relief mission of Red Cross, you can do so by clicking the link below, where you can read more about Disaster Services and his campaign for the run of the Santa Rosa Marathon, which is scheduled to take place on the morning of August 24, 2025. The campaign will run from now until that time; his goal is to raise $2,000 with several milestones along the way. You can assist in the disaster relief by clicking the link below:
